UGS, a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software
and services, today announced Teamcenter(R) for MRO, a new product suite that
extends the value of PLM to maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO)
organizations. The announcement was made at MRO 2005, the world's largest
conference and exhibition for the global MRO industry.
The Teamcenter(R) solution for MRO offers a new approach to the support
and service phase of the product lifecycle, Configuration-driven MRO. Unlike
traditional offerings for MRO, which focus primarily on enterprise resource
planning (ERP) transactional data, Configuration-driven MRO puts the product
at the center of the MRO function -- bridging the gap between the logistics,
maintenance and engineering communities, providing service teams with insight
to what a product's configuration should be and what maintenance operations,
resources and materials are necessary to maintain its effective operation.
