KIMNET Knowledge Management Open Meeting In May
Managing Information News: "As previously advised, the next KIMNET Open Meeting %u201CMaking space for Knowledge%u201D will be held at the London Offices of the Patent Office on Thursday 19th May 2005.
The speaker and facilitator is Angela Dove who is internationally respected for her work in this important area, where all organisations can benefit. She specialises in helping organisations gain the most effective, innovative and creative use of space for knowledge creation and sharing. Angela is an experienced communicator and we can expect a stimulating, highly interactive meeting from which I am confident we will all learn.
No one really owns the configuration of spaces as knowledge spaces, and so those concerned with information and knowledge resources have as legitimate a claim as any one, and more than most. But it takes them out of the comfort zone of information and knowledge resources, and into the mysterious and potentially harmful world of building, facilities, architects, plans, abdicating sponsoring managers etc. Left to their own devices these groups will emasculate and probably even ruin the physical spaces needed for effective knowledge work. There is no choice but to engage with this (a) to avoid knowledge disasters, and (b) to promote the cause of excellence in knowledge work.
Knowledge is a capital resource, but the physical space for knowledge work is still a neglected, misused or misunderstood resource. Active participation in the design process is a key way knowledge workers can help ensure knowledge spaces are used to their full potential.
To attend this meeting please register early (as we expect a lot of interest), on the Web Site (www.kimnet.org.uk) or by e-mailing Jean Balcombe (jean@balcombelondon.co.uk) as soon as possible and by the 17th May at the very latest."
